Life is crazy right now. But not the crazy we are used to. Some of us are crazy busy helping the kids with home schooling, trying to keep a lid on the chaos. Some of us are doing all of that while working from home. Some of us are crazy un-busy. We have zero structure, when we are used to having zero free time.We used to set alarm clocks, make our breakfast, go to work, go to the gym, go out with friends and go home. And our time at work was probably fairly structured too. Now, many of us are always at home. With LOTS of free time. Are you in a schedule "free fall?" Without structure, it is easy to find yourself at the end of the day and wonder where it went. And there is NOTHING wrong with that. When our universe and normal socialization has been changed so dramatically our brains may not be ready to make a lot of decisions. Everything we were used to is now different. And who knows how long this will last.On the positive side, so many of you are enjoying this extra time at home with family. This has been a time to get back to simple things like walks, baking, reading and family games. But eventually we need to get stuff done.Have you ever started your day with a small cleaning task, which turned into cleaning something else, which blossomed into a full blown project? And you accidentally accomplished SO much by the end of the day? This is what we are trying to achieve...but on purpose :-)Here is one of my best tips to get your s#!t together and have a productive day: Get yourself into a "flow" state.Choose one or two things on your list that are easy wins. Things you can finish fairly quickly. They may be things you have been putting off for a while. But the simple act of identifying and completing those things gets your brain warmed up and begins to make you feel productive and successful. Now take your momentum into the next project and the rest of the day. You will be amazed at how productive you can be if you consciously take those first few steps. If you need some extra motivation I highly recommend watching the speech If You Want to Change the World, Start Off by Making Your Bed - William McRaven, US Navy Admiral (click the title for the hyperlink)You can click right on the title to watch.Time to get s#!t done :-)
