Sometimes the best snacks come from the simplest combos. Enter: Parmesan Baked Onion Chips—just shredded Parmesan cheese, thin onion slices, and a quick bake in the oven. The result? Crunchy, savory bites that feel a little bit indulgent, but are secretly wholesome and ridiculously easy to make.
We love creating recipes that let fresh, local produce shine. That’s why we partner with Davis Natural Produce—because onions (and everything else they grow) taste better when they’re local, organic, and fresh from the farm. You can grab your veggies from Davis Natural Produce seven days a week at International Mountain Equipment NOCO (10am–6pm), or on Saturdays at Tuckerman Brewery in Conway from 3pm–6pm (July–Sept).
Parmesan Baked Onion Chips
Ingredients
- 1 large yellow or sweet onion
- 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp smoked paprika (optional)
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- Pinch of salt
- Avocado oil spray
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Peel and thinly slice onion into rounds or half-moons (about ⅛ inch thick). If you have a mandolin, it's a great time saver here. Just make sure you use the hand protector! (ask me how I know ;-) Separate into rings.
- On the baking sheet, sprinkle about 1 tablespoon of shredded Parmesan per chip, spacing 2 inches apart. Flatten slightly into circles.
- Place an onion slice on top of each cheese mound. Sprinkle with seasonings, then mist lightly with avocado oil spray.
- Bake for 8–12 minutes, until the Parmesan is golden and crisp.
- Let cool for 2–3 minutes before lifting with a spatula. The chips will continue to crisp as they cool.
Pro Tips
- Dip them in your fave dip! Ranch, Tzatziki, or any Primal Kitchen Dip will work!
- Want them extra crunchy? Bake on the lower oven rack.
- They’re best eaten fresh, but can be reheated in a toaster oven.
